Our Story
I was never going to be a writer.
After all, the chances of being the next Stephen King, JK Rowling, or Toni Morrison were practically nil, and those with English degrees were either working at McDonald’s or teaching, right? How could I possibly be a writer?
After 34 years of doing anything but writing, I attended Mount Mary University where I learned the following:
I had a knack for writing and won awards for my essays.
I was invited to change my major from Accounting to English, and I took that as a sign.
There were many wonderful writing opportunities and many fields that needed writers.
During my senior year, I interned as a grant writer at a homeless shelter, and after graduating summa cum laude in English with a minor in Communications, I stayed on in business development. Besides other tasks like project management, my position required many different styles of writing: copywriting, ghost writing, technical writing, persuasive writing, and more. I’ve created appeals, redesigned and managed the website, posted on social media, wrote grants, authored letters, created operating procedures, created and edited manuals, wrote scripts and video edited, and much more. The position enabled me to diversify my skill set, and I’m extremely thankful for the opportunities they gave me. I am actively pursuing my master’s degree now, of which I enjoy every moment.
After I relocated to De Pere, the homeless shelter contacted me and asked if I could contract with them for a while. It got me thinking: what about other non-profits or small businesses who needed only intermittent services? What about others who could not afford a full-time writer or who only needed a writer for a few hours a week? What about those who merely need an editor to look over their writing, or a consultant to help them along?
Where can they find these services, at a reasonable rate, without signing up for subscriptions?
My solution is Even Kehl Copywriting LLC, an affordable copywriting service. No subscriptions. No gimmicks. Simple writing.
